Biography

After proving an invaluable asset to the firm while participating in our summer intern program in 2004, Jennifer was asked to join Sandberg Phoenix in 2005. Her primary focus is in the Health Law-Medical Malpractice Practice Group and Business Litigation Group.

She has successfully represented physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, and business owners in all aspects of litigation, including investigation, discovery, motion practice, mediation, trail preparation and trial.

Her experience includes briefing and arguing before appellate courts in both Missouri and Illinois, and particularly thrives on proactively counseling business owners regarding standards of care and best practices, including drafting policies and procedures.

For get-away time, Jennifer runs half- and full-marathons, bikes, plays tennis and enjoys cooking and professionally decorating cakes.

Professional Activities
Jennifer is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois. She is a member of the Jackson County Bar Association, Carbondale Chamber of Commerce, and is Vice President of Programs for Inn of Court. She was the Co-Chair of Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation’s “Hope is Home” capital campaign, which raised capital to build the SIH Cancer Institute. She also finds time to serve on the firm’s Wellness Committee.

Education
Jennifer received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2005 from Southern Illinois University School of Law. While in law school, she served on the Board of Editors (2004-2005) as an Assistant Commentary Editor for the Journal of Legal Medicine. Jennifer also received the Award for Academic Excellence and Phi Kappa Phi Award.

She received her B.A. in Biology, cum laude, from Saint Louis University.

Jennifer is also a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), a certification through the American Hospital Association.
