Biography

An associate in the Business Litigation Practice Group, Joseph Devereux joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2015, bringing more than five years of litigation experience. Working with clients ranging from small- and medium-sized enterprises, individuals and local businesses to insurance brokerages and energy start-ups, Joe is a seasoned commercial and civil litigator.

Focusing his practice on FINRA litigation, Joe specializes in the representation and defense of broker-dealers, registered representatives, and other financial professionals in actions initiated by former and current clients, as well as other entities and individuals. His practice concentrates on the defense of broker-dealers, registered representatives, and other financial professionals before the FINRA in litigation involving securities and consumer fraud litigation, violation of state and federal securities laws, common law claims, and violations of FINRA rules.

Among his other areas of expertise are business torts, including breach of contract, tortious interference, breach of duty, fraud and negligible misrepresentation, as well as many employment matters, such as non-compete and non-solicitation agreements and wrongful termination issues. Joe has also handled anti-trust and class action matters for clients.

Joe understands that facing litigation is stressful, and views his job as a counselor to help offer relief, advice and solutions to allow business owners to get back to running their operations. With this approach, Joe focuses on clients’ goals and works to achieve them, whether or not they include litigation.

“The wonderful part about my job is getting to interact with such a wide variety of clients, helping them overcome issues,” Joe says. “No two cases are alike, and I enjoy learning about new businesses and clients, then strategizing a legal approach that puts their interests first.”

Outside the office, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, attending Cardinals, Blues or Rams games and fishing. He is also an avid golfer.
