Biography

Bringing more than a decade of commercial and business litigation experience, Michele O’Malley joined Sandberg Phoenix’s Kansas City office in 2016. Michele’s legal practice focuses primarily on real estate litigation matters, including commercial and residential foreclosures, condemnation actions, workouts, commercial landlord-tenant matters, easement enforcement and real estate sales contract disputes. She has also served as counsel to small-business owners in dispute resolution, contract enforcement and general business matters, and has considerable experience in insurance defense. Michele has represented clients throughout Missouri and Kansas, ranging from companies and individuals from large lending institutions and insurance companies to real estate buyers and agents.

As a former licensed real estate agent, Michele’s experience navigating the complexities of real estate contracts allows her to help clients navigate difficult situations and guard against future litigation. Her insurance litigation experience, defending municipalities, school districts, business entities and individuals, also adds a unique perspective to her work with clients in real estate matters.

“I really enjoy establishing a personal relationship with my clients,” Michele says. “By understanding their values and establishing goals, I’m able to help by providing cost-effective solutions to their legal needs.”

Outside the office, Michele is the president of the Parent Teacher’s Association for her children’s school and enjoys watching Kansas City Royals with her husband.

Background

Michele graduated from Kansas State University with bachelor’s degrees in secondary education and biology before going on to earn her Juris Doctor, with honors, from Washburn University. During her legal studies, she served as the Comment Editor for the Washburn Law Journal and was awarded the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence.

She is a member of the Women’s Executive Club, a professional organization exclusively for women executives, professionals and business owners, whose mission is to empower women by providing the knowledge, resources, and connections to achieve professional excellence and advancement.

Michele is licensed to practice law in the states of Missouri and Kansas and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri and the District of Kansas.
