Rick Katz, Shareholder

Rick Katz

Biography

As Co-Managing Shareholder of the Kansas City Office, Richard (Rick) Katz has more than 30 years of experience in handling all phases of transactional work. Rick has participated in hundreds of real estate and other transactions, some of which were valued in excess of $200 million, and has closed several billion dollars in transactions, purchases, sales, financings, public incentives, bonds and loans for developers, companies and lenders. Rick has provided counsel to some of the nation’s largest retailers and developers, his team handling more than 1,000 retail leases annually. Rick has had ground up involvement in shopping centers, apartment units, office buildings, hotel and warehouse. Rick is offering the firm and clients extremely deep experience in transactions, development, acquisitions, sales, governmental incentives, commercial leasing and commercial lending.

Rick has long held that understanding clients and putting their interests before his own is the key to long-term success. “Understanding the entrepreneurial vision and world view of my Clients has been my focus throughout my career while structuring their legal costs to match their successes, timing and budgets.” “I believe I absolutely have to have that understanding if I want to fully appreciate their objectives, priorities and long-term goals so I can provide Clients with the high level of legal services they deserve at a reasonable cost.” Rick and his team look at their work with a “deal closing, get it done” attitude (with a view to being awarded that next deal) rather than prolonging matters with unnecessary legal exercises while making sure all bases have been covered.
