Biography

Joining Sandberg Phoenix in 2016, Sharon Stolte brings more than 25 years of experience in business law and business and commercial litigation. Sharon’s legal practice focuses on bankruptcy, Chapter 11 debtor and creditor issues, as well as Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer debtor matters. She has represented creditors in all aspects of creditor rights litigation, claim objection litigation, collateral realization, mechanic liens, collections, foreclosures and replevin litigation. Sharon has also assisted financial institutions, lenders and large suppliers with consumer and commercial restructuring of troubled credits and other business matters. In addition to representing clients before both state and federal courts, she has served as national counsel for several Kansas City-based construction industry firms.

In addition to her legal career, Sharon enjoys spending time with her family, which include her husband and three children and their many sports and activities.

Background

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado, Sharon earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. Prior to joining Sandberg Phoenix, Sharon served as a partner at another large Kansas City law firm.

She has served as the Director of the Kansas City Bankruptcy Bar, as the Vice Chair of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Commercial & Bankruptcy Law Committee and as an Officer for the Former Workout Professional Organization. Sharon also currently serves as a member of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the American Bar Association, the Johnson County Bar Association and as a director with the Turnaround Management Association, Midwest Chapter.

An active member of the Kansas City community, Sharon commits her time to many organizations outside the legal industry, serving as President of the Kansas Premier Soccer League, former Chairperson of the Hope Lutheran Board of Education and as the Vice President of the Heartland Soccer Association. She has also served as the Co-Chair of the Hope Lutheran Church and School Auction and the United Way Fundraising Campaign. Sharon volunteers and coordinates activities for the Heart of America Standdown Association for Homeless Veterans.

In recognition of her outstanding service to both her clients and her community, Sharon was included in The Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City’s annual “A Celebration of Women” annual journal, and was recognized by the Kansas City Business Journal as one of the city’s “Best of the Bar” in both 2015 and 2016.

Sharon is licensed to practice law in the states of Missouri and Kansas and before the Appellate and Supreme Courts of Missouri, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western and Eastern Districts of Missouri and the District of Kansas, as well as authorized to electronically file in more than 30 U.S. Bankruptcy Courts.
