Sandberg Phoenix offers a variety of generous benefits to both attorneys and staff members. See below for expanded information regarding the specific details of our benefits packages and contact the Sandberg Phoenix Human Resources Department for more information.

Benefits for Full-Time Attorneys:

The following information is a summary of benefits for all full-time attorneys:

Health Insurance Benefits
A full-time attorney is eligible for group health insurance on the first day of the month following employment at the firm. The group’s health insurance coverage is through United Healthcare. The firm offers three plans, a PPO base plan, a PPO Buy-up plan and Health Savings Account plan. The Firm pays 85% of the premium for the employee’s health insurance and 20% of dependent coverage. The remaining premium is paid by the employee through the firm’s Cafeteria Plan.

Life Insurance Benefits
A full-time attorney receives a life insurance benefit of 2.5 times total compensation. In addition, the firm’s life insurance policy provides a voluntary investment option if desired.   The premium for the life insurance policy is covered by the firm. The firm also offers voluntary supplemental life insurance as well as dependent life insurance.  Sandberg Phoenix self-funds an additional $5,000 death benefit for each attorney.

Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
The Firm is self-insured for short-term disability. Attorneys are eligible for this short-term disability plan after six months of employment at the Firm. Eligible attorneys receive 100% of their regular salary during a short-term disability up to ninety days.

The Firm offers voluntary long-term disability insurance through Reliance Standard Insurance Co. with a long-term disability benefit at 60% of compensation after 90 days of being disabled.

Dental Insurance Benefits
Sandberg Phoenix offers a voluntary dental insurance plan for firm members and their families. The dental insurance plan is through Metlife. The firm pays 50% of the premium for the employee.

Vision Insurance Benefits
Sandberg Phoenix pays 100% of the member’s only vision coverage through United Healthcare.  The firm offers a voluntary vision plan for family members.

Sandberg Phoenix Cafeteria Plan
A full-time attorney is eligible to participate in the Firm’s Cafeteria Plan with the following three options:

Pre-Tax Premium

Pre-tax deferral of income for paying the portion of the medical insurance and dental insurance premiums not paid by the firm.

Qualified Medical Reimbursement Plan
Pre-tax deferral of income (limited to $2,550 per calendar year) for purposes of paying incurred medical expenses not covered under the family’s medical insurance. The election form describes criteria for eligible reimbursements.

The Dependent Care Plan
An election to reduce your salary (limited to $5,000 per calendar year) to be applied for reimbursement to you for care given by providers in that same year in order for you to be eligible. The criteria for reimbursement are governed by the Internal Revenue Code and eligible reimbursements are not subject to federal, state and Social Security regulations.

Benefits for Staff Members

Sandberg Phoenix provides the following benefit plans to full-time staff members. Additional information on the plans can be obtained from the Human Resources Department.

Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
The Firm is self-insured for short-term disability benefits. Staff members are eligible for this short-term disability plan after six months of employment at the Firm. The number of days accumulated for short-term disability is based on a staff member’s tenure.

The Firm offers voluntary long-term disability insurance through Reliance Standard Insurance Co. with a long-term disability benefit at 60% of compensation after 90 days of being disabled.

Sandberg Phoenix offers a voluntary dental insurance plan for firm members and their families. The dental insurance plan is through Metlife. The firm pays 50% of the premium for the employee.

Pension Plan
Profit-Sharing and 401(k) Plan
The Firm provides for a matching contribution on pre-tax contributions in an amount to be determined by Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard P.C. on an annual basis.

The Firm will also make contributions in its discretion which will be allocated among all eligible employees, whether or not they make contributions.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Firm offers confidential counseling services at no cost to employees and their families through PAS.

Sandberg Phoenix Additional Attorney Benefits
Discretionary Bonus Program. Paid Parking. Up to three weeks of paid vacation each year depending on start date. Attorneys are eligible for professional association dues, CLE and marketing budgets.

Sandberg Phoenix Additional Staff Benefits
Discretionary Bonus Program. Paid Parking/Transportation/MetroLink Allowance. PTO.
