In Missouri, there is no requirement that you include a reason for getting divorced. In other states, you may have to cite a reason like “irreconcilable differences” to explain why you want a divorce, but that is not true in Missouri. A petition for dissolution in Missouri just includes a claim that you believe the marriage is “irretrievably broken” without having to give an explanation of why you believe that’s so.
