Nicolas Espinosa

Attorney

Nicolas Espinosa joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2026 as an attorney in the firm’s Products Liability and Business Litigation Practice Groups. He represents businesses and individuals in complex civil litigation, drawing on a background that spans litigation, corporate law, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

Prior to joining Sandberg Phoenix, Nicolas advised on compliance and regulatory matters as an Associate at leading global multinational investment bank and financial services firm, where he collaborated with internal stakeholders to navigate governance requirements and regulatory obligations. Before that, he represented defendants in a wide range of civil litigation matters, gaining experience through every stage of the litigation process. During this time, he second-chaired a jury trial that resulted in a complete defense verdict for his client.

Before beginning his legal career, Nicolas worked in risk management at a multinational financial services firm, where he supported legal and compliance functions within a highly regulated financial services environment. This experience provided him with valuable insight into the legal and business challenges organizations face, allowing him to approach litigation with a practical, business-minded perspective.

While attending Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Nicolas served as a law clerk under Legislative Counsel in the United States Senate in Washington, D.C., conducting legal research and supporting the legislative process. He also gained transactional experience as a summer associate and law clerk, assisting with mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and business litigation matters.

Nicolas distinguished himself in law school as a national finalist in the American Bar Association Negotiation Competition, where he honed the advocacy, negotiation, and strategic problem-solving skills he continues to use on behalf of his clients.

Today, Nicolas leverages his diverse legal, regulatory, and business experience to help clients navigate complex litigation, mitigate risk, and achieve practical, results-driven solutions.

Outside of the office, Nicolas enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as playing soccer and tennis. He is an avid supporter of the Iowa State Cyclones, the Chicago Bears, and St. Louis City SC.
