Scott joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2023 as a member of the firm’s Health Law practice group. Scott has a broad range of experience with Fortune 500 and institutional healthcare entities, consulting on litigation and non-litigation matters, including issues related to policies, provider agreements and contractual arrangements.
Scott focuses his practice on defending health care clients against catastrophic injury claims alleging medical malpractice. He also has extensive trial experience defending products liability, toxic tort, and environmental claims. His experience includes representation of Fortune 150 and 500 companies on toxic tort matters involving a range of contaminants, including lead, petrochemical hydrocarbons, and vinyl chloride.
Scott has handled a wide range of products liability cases defending individual, class-action and inter-business claims, including those for false or deceptive labeling and advertising. He has extensive experience with class action and consumer fraud claims, including statutory violation claims involving the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act.
Scott has a background challenging complex commercial litigation cases in state and federal trial courts, as well as various arbitration forums. These cases include all manners of commercial disputes, including defense and/or trial of complex civil claims involving contract, commercial, real estate, and noncompete claims.
In addition, Scott has defended and investigated environmental accusations of regulatory violations, and has extensive experience defending major energy companies, and other large commercial entities against claims under the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) and state environmental statutes. His experience includes dealing with potentially responsible party matters and related negotiations, and both investigating and managing pre-suit compliance efforts in conjunction with federal regulators and PRP committees.
Prior to joining Sandberg Phoenix, Scott was a partner with another major law firm in the St. Louis area.
Outside of the office, Scott enjoys traveling and spending time with his two daughters.
